Bagh Chal is an ancient game. It has survived till now from one generation to another through imitation and oral traditions. As the number of old people playing Bagh Chal in paatis (public places) in Nepal starts to grow thinner and thinner and new generations are nowhere to be found, veteran players and historians are worried that this ancient game might disappear along with them. Local conservation efforts and online versions are the only things keeping the game alive and relevant.

We decided not to have any stretch goals for this campaign and give you the best version of Bagh Chal with quality components.

Satin pouch with string: 5” x 4” (120 x 100 mm). Wooden tokens: all tokens receive heat transfer printing to make them more durable. 1 Bagh Chal set contains 4 wooden Tiger tokens, and 20 wooden Goat tokens. Playmat: around 240 gsm quality fabric with stitched edges for durability. Moreover, the playmat is double sided, so you can enjoy the Indian game of Puli Meka also, which requires the same, but less tokens. Rulebook: 5” x 5” (120 x 120 mm) when unfolded, 2.5” x 2.5” (60 x 60 mm) when folded.

Bagh Chal is the ancient game of Nepal, and Puli Meka is a variant of the game from India. In Puli Meka, players use the same wooden tokens, but only 3 Tigers and 15 Goats are in play, and the layout of the board is different, as well as the starting position of Tigers.

Goat player: Don’t be afraid to sacrifice 1-2 Goats early in the game. This can help you force Tigers to unfavorable spaces. Tiger player: Try to spread your Tigers out, so it becomes more difficult for Goats to trap each one.

1. Bagh Chal is a language-independent game. However, rules are currently only available in English.
2. We had some amazing backers who volunteered to translate the rulebook to additional languages. These will be gradually made available in the upcoming months. Thanks to them, Bagh Chal will be available in 27 languages: Arabic, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Nepali, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and Ukrainian.

It would not be accurate to include local taxes in the price as it differs from country to country. As we ship worldwide, the local taxes will be calculated and added in the Pledge Manager after the campaign. So for example if you are located in the EU, you will be required to pay roughly 21% VAT in the Pledge Manager.

1. In the Pledge Manager you will be able to choose add-ons (additional items) and add your shipping address.
2. As we are past the prototype proofing stage, we will immediately send the game to mass production after the campaign ends.
3. Manufacturing can take quite some time, depending on the quantity and the availability of raw materials. Once manufacturing is finished, the games will be freight shipped, go through customs and arrive at a warehouse. The warehouse staff will carefully inspect and sort all games. Once inspected, they will pick and pack your purchased items, label each box, and ship it to the address you provided. Please note that there could be delays at any point along the way, mostly due to COVID-19 and long waiting times in harbors and airports, but we and our partner companies will do our best to make the whole process as smooth as we can.
4. That being said, we are planning to deliver your package to your doorstep around February-March 2023.

The first game in the series, Chili Mafia, was successfully funded on Kickstarter in August 2021. In Chili Mafia, players had to travel to the colourful country of Mexico for a chili pepper showdown. Yes! Chili Mafia is great for 2-8 players. Players have the choice to play individually or in teams. Besides that, the base game contains an Advanced game mode where you can use the special abilities of the Chili Mafiosi. The Goodfellas Expansion also adds 2 more game modes: new Chili Mafiosi with new special abilities and the Hot Property deck to spice up your game night even more.
